Transport from Airport to HKCEC

Airport (Hong Kong International Airport)
The Hong Kong International Airport is connected to the Airport Express, Taxis, Airbuses and Free Shuttle buses at specially designated areas.

1. Airport Express
Airport Express is the fastest train service connecting Hong Kong International Airport and Hong Kong downtown. To reach Wan Chai MTR Station (the nearest MTR Station from the exhibition venue - HKCEC), you can take the Airport Express from the Airport Station to Hong Kong Station, interchange there to take the Island line to Wan Chai Station.

2. Taxis
Taxis to almost anywhere in Hong Kong and are readily available from the taxi pick-up area. Rates start at HK$16 on flag fall plus HK$1.40 every further 200 metres. Taxis only accept Hong Kong Dollars, only pay the fare shown on the meter plus any additional charges where applicable (eg. luggage, tunnel tolls). Hong Kong Island passengers pay the two-way Cross-Harbour tunnel toll. All passengers pay an extra fee per piece of luggage (charges displayed in taxi).

3. Airbuses
There are more than 30 franchised bus routes from the airport, including 9 Airbus services that have fewer stops than conventional buses. Airbus fares are ranging from HK$14 to HK$45. For details, please visit here

4. Free Shuttle Buses
A complementary connecting bus service is provided for Airport Express passengers. Passengers can enjoy free bus from Hong Kong Station (Bus no. H1, every 24 minutes) to HKCEC. For details, please click here.

Transport from Mainland China to HKCEC

1. MTR
The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is an underground railway network. Depending on which line you take, the system generally runs from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Cars and stations are air-conditioned. Visitors from southern China should take East Rail Line to Hong Kong from either Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau Station. Below is the suggested route for the mainlanders from Lo Wu Station / Lok Ma Chau Station and Hunghom Railway Statiion to HKCEC.

2. Coach
For the visitors coming via Huanggang Port, taking coach to HKCEC would be an efficient way. After passing customs at Huangang port, you can buy coach ticket to Wanchai at HKD 45 at the exit of Hunag Gang Immigration Tower.

The Star Ferry Co operates a shuttle service between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, Central and Tsim Sha Tsui, Hung Hom and Wanchai and Tsim Sha Tsui and Wanchai. Ferry Pier is within a few minutes walk of the HKCEC

Currency
The local currency is the Hong Kong Dollar (HK$). The Hong Kong Dollar is pegged to the US Dollar at the rate of US$1= HK$7.7 although the rate does vary slightly. Notes' denominations include HK$10, HK$20, HK$50, HK$100, HK$500 and HK$1,000. Coins come in denominations for 10, 20 and 50 cents, and one, two, five and ten dollars. Hong Kong is an international financial center and all major currencies and traveler's cheques can be exchanged either at banks, hotels or moneychangers with some handling charges.

Climate
Hong Kong has a sub-tropical climate with distinct seasonal changes. The autumn is lasts from mid-September to November. The winds become more easterly in direction. The amount of cloud in the sky and the humidity will decrease rapidly at this time. The temperature is around 20oC / 68oF, with clear sunny skies and low humidity. Electricity
The electricity supply in Hong Kong is a nominal 220AC/50 cycles. The plug/socket system in Hong Kong is a 3-rectangular-pin type. For most visitors wishing to operate electrical equipment they have brought form their home places, adaptors will be necessary. It is recommended that visitors use adaptors that are supplied by hotel or purchased locally.

Smoking is prohibited in most enclosed public places, including restaurants, karaokes, malls and some bars as well as some outdoor areas (public beaches and swimming pools, transport interchanges and outside escalators, etc)

The official languages are Chinese and English, with Cantonese the most widely spoken Chinese dialect. The popularity of Putonghua is growing. All major signage is in Chinese or Bilingual. English is widely spoken in Hong Kong.

Phone Call
Local calls are free. Local calls from public coin phones cost HK$1 per five minutes. Using your mobile phone in Hong Kong is convenient as most of the telephone systems used around the globe. Country code for Hong Kong is ¡§852¡¨ immediately followed by the local telephone number. However, if you are making a call to other cities in China, you should dial the country code ¡§86¡¨ then followed by the area code and the local telephone number.
 
Sales Tax
There is no sales tax on goods and services in Hong Kong.
 
Tipping
A service charge of 10% of the bill is already included in restaurants, extra tipping at your discretion. Taxi drivers tend to round up the fare to the nearest Hong Kong dollar and if not, will appreciate a little extra. Bellboys, porters and washroom attendants will also expect a modest tip.

Sightseeing in Hong Kong

a) Hong Kong Island Tour

This tour is a must for foreign visitors. It includes a visit to Victoria Peak for a panoramic splendor view of the city and Stanley Market which is famous for bargain shopping. It then returns along the coastal line via Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay to Aberdeen, the floating village for fishermen (sampan ride at Aberdeen will be at optional cost).
