Collaborative Conferencing Technologies at InfoComm Asia 2008
The Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance (IMCCA) has announced it will sponsor a specialty pavilion to showcase integrated solutions in video, audio, data and web conferencing technologies at InfoComm Asia 2008, June 19-21 in Hong Kong.
This announcement is a recognition of the growing demand in Asia for conferencing technologies, including telepresence facilities - defined as providing the ability to share audio, data and video with a distant site or sites as if the participants were truly in the same room. IMCCA's partnering with InfoComm Asia is also an industry endorsement of InfoComm Asia as the premier marketing platform in Asia for the ProAV and multimedia communications industry.
Mr. Phil B. Keenan, the chairman of IMCCA and Senior Vice President, Strategy of Polycom Inc., a market leader in communications convergence, said: ¡§The rapid development of converging technologies in AV and IT has led to a new trend in collaborative conferencing, and this has tremendous impact on the way we work and learn. IMCCA members collectively possess a wealth of knowledge that can add value to businesses in increasing productivity, enhancing relationships and enabling faster decision making. I feel it is timely for us to share this knowledge with Asian enterprises especially as the region is undergoing rapid transformation and growth.¡¨
¡§IMCCA has been in existence since 1999, and we are definitely looking at expanding our influence to Asia,¡¨ said Ms. Carol Zelkin, Executive Director of IMCCA. ¡§It's been a mutually beneficial relationship with InfoComm in the US, which has proven to be the perfect platform for IMCCA. We are confident that InfoComm Asia 2008 is the right forum for our members to introduce their company and products to Asia.¡¨
IMCCA is a not-for-profit user application and industry focused association with a worldwide membership of more than 2,000. This includes service and product providers, consultants and users of interactive and collaborative communications technologies from diverse industries including government, enterprise, healthcare and education. With high definition display or collaboration screens integrated with wireless and multimedia communications technologies, business or social collaboration has taken on a new dimension. Meeting via telepresence, collaborators can interact with each other in real time, share and transfer images, data and information, and examine even the smallest detail together, even if they are scattered in different parts of the globe. This results in costs savings and higher productivity, as it helps to reduce travel expenses while allowing global workforces to consult with each other more frequently and effectively.
IMCCA members will showcase state-of-the-art conferencing technologies at its dedicated InfoComm Asia pavilion. As part of the pavilion program, IMCCA will also hold a conference/workshop focusing on the needs of users in Asia.
Senior Vice President, International Development of InfoComm International and Managing Director of InfoCommAsia Pte Ltd, Mr. Terry Friesenborg CTS, was upbeat about prospects in Asia and the progress of the InfoComm Asia 2008 event. ¡§With more than 70% of the exhibition space booked and this added participation of IMCCA, the burgeoning Asian ProAV user market can look forward to a grand display of solutions to boost their business operations at InfoComm Asia 2008,¡¨ he said.
The biennial InfoComm Asia 2008 event will be held concurrently with the annual Integrated Systems China ¡V renamed InfoComm China from 2008. In addition to the new sponsor IMCCA, InfoComm Asia 2008 is also sponsored by InfoComm International® and the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
