Digital signage catches on in Asia

Asian cities from Mumbai through Singapore to Beijing are witnessing an expanding phenomenon of dynamic messaging delivering desired information, advertisements and entertainment to commuters, shoppers, corporate workers and the public at large. As Asian cities grow larger, transportation networks widen, and commercial buildings continue to be built, the demand for digital signage systems will increase.

Frost & Sullivan estimates that the digital signage systems market will reach $1.1 billion in revenue worldwide by 2012, with the Asia Pacific region promising significant opportunities. Another research and consulting firm, iSuppli, ventures that the indoor-venue and hospitality markets offer the biggest growth opportunity.

Continued Investments in numerous entertainment, leisure and building projects throughout the region no doubt contributed to the strong rebound in Asian economies, beginning as early as Q2 of 2009. The Asian Development Bank has yet again upgraded its growth forecasts. Its update in December 2009 puts growth estimates for the region at 4.2% in 2009 and 6.8% in 2010, up from its earlier forecast of 3.6% and 6.5% respectively.

As confidence returns, domestic demand picks up. The increased need to be competitive under the current challenging times is compelling retail malls, hospitality operators, corporate offices, transport hubs, and public sector service providers to find more creative communication solutions to engage and win new customers. The digital signage industry - from content design, to management and display - is primed for robust growth, especially as technology advances and entry costs decline.

Asian businesses are fast catching on to the power of digital signage - to enhance brand image, communicate promotional messages, and even generate revenue. DigitalSignage@InfoComm Asia 2010 offers an ideal platform for manufacturers and suppliers of digital signage products and services, to showcase their latest technologies and show the Asian customers how they can deliver impact through dynamic messaging.
